Using the Internet to build your Poker Bankroll
Unlike the old school poker players who had to go grind it out for days and days to build their poker bankroll, the modern day poker players has a new weapon. The Internet has provided an outlet that can accelerate a poker players bankroll like never before. In this article, we will cover three primary areas where you can exploit the power of the internet to build your bankroll.

1. Deposit Bonuses

The competition for your online poker bankroll is very stiff today. There are hundreds of online poker rooms that all compete with each other. They want you as a player because you generate rake (what the house takes from the pot to pay for their overhead). The more rake you generate, the more money the house makes! To attract players almost every single online poker room on the planet will offer sign up bonuses. This is essentially a rake rebate back to the player. You're generating the rake revenue for the house anyway and the more players to a table the more rake that's generated. As a new player, the online poker rooms will offer you a sign up bonus with amounts ranging from $20.00 to upwards of $1,000.00! As an example, Titan Poker and Full Tilt Poker both offer 100% sign up bonuses up to $600.00 ($500.00 for Titan). You can sign up for either of them and take a shot at a free poker bankroll by entering your guess for the free bankroll here.

Each room will have different ways to clear the bonus but my best advice to you is to play at least two tables at the 1/2 Limit games as a minimum. You won't take the big swings playing limit poker and your bankroll will last much longer, especially if you're a newer player. For details on how to clear a bonus you will need to read the details at the specific online poker room. They all have various ways for you to clear a bonus with some being easier than others.

 2. Multi Table Play

A huge advantage that modern day players have is that when playing online, we can multi-table. This is a new term that applies to the ability of Internet poker players to play more than one table at a time. When you do the math and apply it to building a poker bankroll, this is a powerful tool if used properly! We are a generation of ADD personalities and we want everything fast and we want it now. If you find that you're getting bored playing a single table of poker at Full Tilt, you may find yourself pushing a little too hard and playing sub-par hands. Why are you doing this? More than likely it's because you crave action and you're bored. You want to make some money and you want to make it now! Right? WRONG. This is the worst approach possible and you'll be broke before you can say Royal Flush.

The solution to this is to multi-table, go ahead and open up multiple tables. All of the online poker rooms at BuildMyBankroll offer the multi table option. Start off with two tables, work your way to three, and if you're really brave go ahead and take a shot at playing four tables at the same time. I personally play four at a time and do a decent job of earning a little and not taking big hits to my bankroll. If you are the ADD type and get bored easily, do this math: If you are dealt 60 hands an hour at a single table, you're being dealt 240 hands an hour with four tables. If this isn't enough action to keep your attention level stable, perhaps you should try jumping from an airplane or something.

In short, play tight and wait for premium cards. With so many hands being dealt to you every hour you WILL see premium cards and you will find someone else at the table pushing a sub-par hand (who's probably not multi-tabling!). Then you'll be the beneficiary of someone else's bad play vs. the other way around.

3. Bonus Whoring

Another term that was born during the Internet generation of playing poker online. This term applies to those people that jump from site to site to take advantage of deposit bonuses and reload bonuses. The online poker rooms aren't too fond of these people and at least one site has taken steps to ban those players in the past. If you select a few of the top tier poker rooms and gravitate to the ones that offer deposit and reload bonuses, you should be fine. You have to be careful to play for some time after clearing a bonus so that the poker room doesn't see a pattern of abuse. For example, you sign up at Paradise Poker and clear their $100.00 bonus. You then immediately leave, cash out, and take that money to Titan Poker. Not a good idea, especially if you're going to do that more than once. For one thing, if you made any money during the bonus clearing process then why would you want to leave so quickly? Stick around and play for a bit, then head over to Titan Poker. You'll be glad you did and you don't risk having your account banned due to abuse.

The bonus whoring trend has its critics and it's supporters. I'm in the middle and believe that if you use good judgment and stay loyal to a handful of the best sites, you'll be fine in the long run. Good Luck!
